How to build a crowdfunding campaign?
Helsinki Allas sea spa will open at the Helsinki Market Square in the summer of 2016. Allas will be a significant tourist attraction, a new center for urban culture and a year-round recreational oasis. Allas claims unused seaside space for the citizens. The area reserved for Allas is almost a hectare in size. Three large swimming pools and a spa with saunas, a beach, a small park and an exhibition centre for the Baltic Sea will be built on the property.
Allas gave the citizens of Helsinki an opportunity to tell how they wanted the place to look already in the design phase. Straight from the beginning, Måndag was there to survey people’s wishes. Allas is a remarkable project even on an international scale and the citizens of Helsinki have been active participants in the process from it’s first steps. Part of Allas’s building costs were decided to finance through a share-based crowdfunding campaign. This was a way of letting the citizens influence to their own surroundings and buy a piece of the progressing Helsinki.
Måndag was responsible for the campaign’s social media communication.
We provoked people to think about why central areas in Helsinki are reserved for parking space and where is the historical spa culture of Helsinki. In the center of communication was openness and dialogue – the change of surroundings always raises criticism and questions, and they should be answered quickly.
The target of the crowdfunding campaign was 500,000 euros. This goal was exceeded. The final investments added up to 814,000 euros and most of the traffic on the Allas Invesdor page came from social media links.
Welcome to the opening of Allas in the summer of 2016!
