Where can I grow my salad?
Like the Chinese proverb says, the most important thing in life is gardening. But what if you don’t have the space for it? Måndag and Iina Merikallio came up with the solution: GIMBY - Gardening in my backyard! GIMBY is a barter economy based, communal service that helps two groups of people. Those who need space for planting and those whose gardens have become a burden. The latter might simply not have enough time or energy to maintain their properties and the former are eager to grow their own salads, herbs and vegetables but lack the space.
The solution: one party gives their land up for gardening and the other offers to work and sweat for the crop. Everyone wins. The project won the 2013 KPH AWARD which celebrates and strengthens startups and projects who works with cultural, environmental and social initiatives. Dream green, and finally savour the fruits of the land!
