Our words and deeds hold the power to break or build everyday peace – thus the next generation can also build the new narrative and make an impact in their environment!
The Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland is creating communication project for peace and reconciliation in Iraq and in Afghanistan. The communication project will focus on young people: since children and young people make up a significant share of the population in both Iraq and Afghanistan, it is logically fundamental that young people take part in building society.
Launched in Afghanistan and in Iraq in 2019, the project aims to form a group of young peace ambassadors through which communication will be disseminated to the local community and environment. The project offers young people an opportunity to meet like-minded people, gain knowledge and expand skills in the field of media and peacemaking. Together with network professionals, volunteers learn negotiating skills, ways to impact their environment and tools to handle conflict situations.
Being part of the wider migration movement communication by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, the communication project for peace and reconciliation in Iraq and Afghanistan will focus on influencing the root causes behind irregular migration movements that violate provisions, such as the exclusion of youths, hate speech, violent radicalisation and terrorism.
Måndag was selected to the implementer of the communication project.
