Dude, Where’s my bike?
Biking is often the easiest and fastest way to get around town - nevertheless the most ecological! We think biking should be available to everybody. We also thought that mutual trust builds a better city and that’s how we came up with Trust Bike. It’s a community project where old, abandoned and broken bicycles are reconditioned for public use by everyone in the community - without any costs.
A repair shop was set up in an old boiler room at the Alppila church. We transformed the space into more than a mere repair shop. We created a lively community centre where everybody is welcome. People can donate old or broken bikes to the project which will then be transformed into Trust Bikes.
The very first bikes were made in late 2014, and in the spring of 2015 several Trust Bikes were available to use. Trust Bikes are easy to spot for their hot pink colour and they are free to use without a deposit or charge. - bikes are not locked; Trust Bike trusts you.
