The tension grows thicker – the winner of the architecture competition for the new city center library will be announced on the 14.6. The new era library has been planned through the year together with the citizens. That’s why we want to be where the people are, at the moment of celebration.
The library belongs with the people, on the streets and alleys, where the people gather, go about their businesses and live their lives! The Center Libarary deploys the magical world of library to the people with six bicycles and welcomes to discover the new exciting possibilities of doing things together. The employees of the library will be deployed as story- and knowledge navigators, cycling encyclopedias and embassadors of cheer on the streets. The bicycles will drive around on the streets of Helsinki on the 13.-14.6 between 10.00 and 18.00. One can spot different bikes for children, music, novelties, games and classics. It is worth checking out, you will be surprised.
The library bicycles will ”refuel” in the Plot Party, in front of the Music House of Helsinki. The Center Library will be introduced to the men and women on the streets in the party tents. There will be demonstrations, interviews, party atmosphere, music and other program. The award-winning works can be seen in the foyer of the Music House at 12-15 o’ clock. The program of the party will be updated here soon.

Tell us your ideas! What would you want us to pack along for the ride? Tell us. The themes of the bikes are children, music, knowledge, novelties, classics and games. Where would you want to run into the library bike? Tell us. The bikes will ride in the centre with Ruoholahti, Alppila, Meilahti and Hermanni as their borders.
