How much food do you throw away?
Are you a typical citizen of Helsinki? If you are, you throw away an average of 23kg of food per year. 40% of this food is edible, but it ends up as waste for various reasons. Sometimes you end up buying more food than you can eat and Måndag wanted to turn this unfortunate issue into something fun. At first we created a social media campaign for a junk food brunch that inspired people to use their leftovers for a shared dinner. The suggestion got a lot of publicity and finally we ended up setting up a junk food dinner with the top chef Sami Tallberg. All the food was donated by entrepreneurs in Helsinki.
The wonderful and delicious concept gained so much attention that it was used in the launch of a collaboration by Sitra and the city of Jyväskylä. The launch filled the streets with junk food kitchens and successfully launched the project called: “Towards resource wisdom”.
